Official, LG Optimus 3D hitting UK on Vodafone

Hankering after that gorgeous-sounding LG Optimus 3D? You needn’t wait for the official unveiling at Mobile World Congress to find out if it’s coming to the UK: Vodafone just confirmed to us it’ll be sellling the eye-popping smartphone as soon as it’s available.

We haven’t even seen the Optimus 3D in the flesh yet, but when we questioned Vodafone on their plans for LG’s tantalising new phone, and were told unequivocally “It will come to Vodafone. As soon as it’s launched, we will bring it to the UK.”

The operator wouldn’t be drawn on a price, or even a firm release date, leaving that up to the mobile chiefs at LG. However, it’s the first official confirmation that British phone fans will get the LG Optimus 3D.

For the uninitiated, the Optimus 3D boastsa dual-lens camera for 3D recording, a glasses-free LCD screenl for 3D viewing and a HDMI connection to output its 3D wares onto a big screen 3D TV. There’s also DLNA and Wi-Fi inside, letting the Optimus 3D stream content around the house, to any Wi-Fi enabled 3D screen, set-top box or Blu-ray player.

Vodafone wouldn’t let slip whether Pay As You Go customers would get a taste of the LG Optimus 3D, but we can guess we’re looking at a contract-only offering to begin with, as is the case with Vodafone’s other flagship smartphones.
