Blackberry Slider and Blackberry tablet rumours revived

A Blackberry Slider and Blackberry tablet have both been rumoured to be resting in RIM’s labs and now more details on them have popped up in a report from the frequent tech rumormongers at the Wall Street Journal. The paper has a history of getting controlled leaks from hardware makers so we’re intrigued by the set of Blackberry Slider specs and news on the Blackberry tablet now rattling around the rumoursphere…

The unnamed sources claim the Blackberry Slider comes packing a touchscreen and a sliding keyboard, just as we’ve heard before. They also say it’ll come with the new Blackberry 6 OS which means iPhone-style multitouch gestures and a universal search bar.

The new details on the Blackberry Slider that are most interesting are a little more specific. The report claims it’ll have a rather paltry 4GB of internal storage and a 5MP camera. There’s also a reference to a speedier Internet app which could be the faster WebKit browser RIM snapped up last year.

Sadly, the WSJ report simply supports the previous rumours about the Blackberry tablet. We heard previously that it’ll be an 8.9in device with no 3G which will tether to your Blackberry or hop online via Wi-Fi. The shadowy sources maintain that RIM will sling out the Blackberry tablet by the end of 2010.

Our Blackberry Pearl 3G review shows that RIM’s old school emailers have still got some life left in them but we’ve not seen it deliver a touchscreen since the Blackberry Storm 2. Do you fancy getting your hands on the Blackberry Slider or Blackberry tablet or is RIM about to run into trouble?
