The Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro – the Sony Ericsson Vivaz’s curious QWERTY-keyboard packing camera phone chum – is now up for grabs on contract. We’d previously seen the modestly specced phone available for eye-watering SIM-free prices but Sony Ericsson’s confirmed that it’s on sale as an O2 exclusive now. So should you grab the simple Symbian snapper?
While the Sony Ericsson Vivaz packed an 8MP camera, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro has just 5MP to its name but will still record 720p HD video. Onboard storage is also pretty paltry at just 70MB but you can boost that up to 32GB with a microSD card. There’s no 3G but you do get Wi-Fi and as well as the slide-out QWERTY keyboard, there’s a touchscreen with handwriting recognition.
Compared to the Samsung Wave which combines a glorious AMOLED screen with a 5MP camera and 720p HD video recording smarts, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz looks a little underwhelming. There’s also the little matter of iPhone 4.0 launch today which promises a 5MP camera packed into that new look shell.
If you are intrigued by the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro, O2 is offering free from £30 a month on an 18 month contract. That tariff will get you 300 minutes and unlimited texts.
