iPad UK launch - Currys and PC World to stock Apple tablet

The iPad will be stocked in 139 Currys and PC World stores across the UK on Friday which could provide a welcome alternative to queuing outside the Apple Store. A memo sent to sales staff at DSGi which owns the stores apparently confirms that it will be stocking the tablet from the iPad UK launch.

Up until now it wasn’t clear where other than the 27 UK Apple stores would be offering the iPad at launch. DSGi is rumoured to have a 60-day exclusive window to sell the iPad at PC World and Currys but there are also rumours that the new Best Buy store at Thurrock will also carry the “revolutionary” tablet.

The memo, seen by The Times, predicts that UK iPad sales will mirror the massive interest in the US where American Apple fans snapped up 1 million in less than a month. It was their eagerness to get hold of an iPad that delayed the iPad UK launch.

If you’ve not submitted an iPad UK preorder yet, what are you planning to do on Friday? Will you be queuing outside the Apple Store, hoping that PC World and Currys do carry it or waiting until the rush is over? If you’re still wondering whether you should grab one, read our iPad UK review.
