Doctor Who will put you in control of Matt Smith’s new Doctor and slinky new sidekick Amy Pond (played by new Electricpig crush Karen Gillan) with four new interactive episodes. Doctor Who: The Adventure Games will feature stories written by the Doctor Who scriptwriters and voice work from Smith and Gillan.
The Doctor Who: Adventure Games episodes will tie in with the current Doctor Who TV series and be available as free downloads for PC and Mac from the BBC website.
The BBC promises that the free Doctor Who game will include original characters and classic enemies. That suggests a healthy dose of Daleks and Cybermen.
Doctor Who executive producer, Piers Wenger, says: “There aren’t 13 episodes of Doctor Who this year, there are 17 – four of which are interactive.”
News of a range of BBC games emerged in January but it was expected to come from BBC Worldwide. The arrival of a series of free Doctor Who games is a nice surprise.
The Doctor Who game episodes will feature at least one location not seen before in the TV series but the BBC has not revealed titles or storylines yet.
However, the first Doctor Who game photos reveal a few clues about what to expect with a Cyberman trudging through snow and the Doctor and Amy in a ruined London.
The first episode of Doctor Who: The Adventure Games is due out in June with its title set to be revealed on April 21.
