There have been rumours of an Eee Phone for months, but now Asus boss Jonney Shih has confirmed we’ll see a low cost Eee handset soon.
Speaking to the New York Times, he wouldn’t confirm whether the Eee Phone would run Android, but said an Asus handset would be able to control other Eee equipment around the home. That includes the Eee Top and the Eee Keyboard, and pretty much guarantees there’ll be Wi-Fi inside.
Other details are scarce, but rumours persist that the Eee Phone will launch in the first half of 2009. We reckon Android is a dead cert, especially since Asus is now an Open Handset Alliance member. Keep it here for more as we hear it.
