Put this one in the file marked ‘rumour’. Apple has filed a patent that could see solar power integrated into future products. Sun-powered iPhone anyone?
According to MacRumours, the unique design will see solar panels placed beneath the LCD screen of certain devices, absorbing the ambient light running through them.
Sun-powered products usually sport bulky solar panels added in addition to existing features, but this new design means Apple can focus on dieting their devices and still fit in solar panels for free juice on the move.
The extra bit of power the panels provide could mean longer battery life, and put an end to emergency charging on the go.
We’ve been told not to expect a solar iPhone anytime soon, but we’re keeping our fingers firmly crossed.
